From the church history: David was born July 2, 1731, the son of John Jenkins, and grandson of David Jenkins who emigrated from Wales to Philadelphia in 1710. David was Col of the 10th Batt., Lancaster County Militia 1777. (PA Arch. s 5, v 7, 974-975-991; PA Arch. s 6, v 11, p 218). He was an original Trustee of old Pequea presbyterian Church. He served as Justice of the Peace for 7 years, and presided with 4 other men over the Court of Quarter Sessions at Lancaster. He died at the age of 66 years.

He purchased the Windsor Forges and continued to be their proprietor during his life. He was a man of large public spirit and influence. Was Major and perhaps Colonel in the Revolutionary army. “He was very active in organizing opposition to England. Was on the Committee of Safety for the county. In January, 1775, was one of the delegates from his county to a Provincial Convention held in Philadelphia, and also to a convention held there June i8th of the same year. June 25, 1776, he was one of his county’s representatives in a conference of delegates from all the counties held in Lancaster. July 4, 1776, he was a member of a conference of representatives from the associators of Pa. In all references to him concerning these conveners)” This lists David Jenkins/Martha Armor children: 1 John Jenkins, born July 13, 1761, died young. 2 Margaret Jenkins, born February 21, 1763, died June 17, 1769. 3 Rebecca Jenkins, born August 4, 1765. 4 Robert Jenkins, born July 10, 1769. 5 Margaret Jenkins, born January 11, 1771, married Lewis Krieder, died early. 6 Martha Jenkins, born March 21, 1773, married Jesse Lafferty, died early, leaving one child, which died soon after. 7 David Jenkins, born December 19, 1775. 8 William Jenkins, born July 7, 1779.
